University of New South Wales,Australia

University of New South Wales,Australia

The University of New South Wales (UNSW), is a research-focused university based in Kensington, a suburb in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Founded in 1949, UNSW is recognised as one of Australia’s leading teaching and research institutions, and has developed a strong reputation in a number of fields. The university is a member of the "Group of Eight" coalition of leading Australian universities and is also a founding member of Universitas 21, an international network of leading research-intensive universities.
UNSW consistently ranks amongst the top of Australian universities. As one of the most prestigious and selective universities in Australia, [5] graduates from the university are held in high regard by employers and receive some of the highest starting salaries in comparison to other universities in Australia. Unsurprisingly, UNSW graduates hold more chief executive positions of ASX 200 listed companies than any other university in Australia.
Australian Government survey data of university graduates has indicated in the past that students who enter the Group of Eight come from higher income families, and that graduates largely have higher paid occupations or positions of influence, prompting claims of elitism and social division.
UNSW has an endowment of $1.52 billion, the largest of any institution in the Australasian and Oceanic region, followed by ANU ($1.2371 billion) and Melbourne ($1.105 billion). [8] [9] [10] UNSW currently has approximately 50, 516 students studying in 600 undergraduate and postgraduate academic programs. Over 5,300 full-time staff work in its 76 schools, 69 research centres, six institutes, four teaching hospitals, eight residential colleges and many administrative departments.
